Resident Elected President of Law Association

     Wynne du M. Caffey Hall, a resident of Seymour, was elected President-Elect of Tennessee Lawyers’ Association for Women (TLAW) at the state association’s annual meeting in June.
    Hall, who currently serves as President of the East Tennessee region’s affiliated program, begins her tenure in June 2011. A partner in the law firm of Paine, Tarwater, and Bickers, LLP, Hall was sworn in by Tennessee Supreme Court Chief Justice Janice Holder at the statewide convention held in Nashville.
    Commenting on Hall’s selection, Tennessee Supreme Court Justice Sharon G. Lee said, “I am delighted with Wynne’s election as President-Elect. Wynne has established herself as a leader in the legal profession. Her success at balancing her roles as a trial lawyer and as a mother enables her to serve as a role model for women lawyers all across the state.”
    TLAW serves as the statewide organization representing women from across the state through advocacy, educational and network opportunities to promote women in the legal profession.
   For over twenty years TLAW has seen growth in the number of women in the legal community and has witnessed the promotion of more women to judicial positions within the state, including now holding a majority of the state Supreme Court.
    “My mother often told me, ‘This is the age of opportunity for women,” Hall said. “As incoming President, I hope to continue the positive momentum of my predecessors to increase our support of women in the practice of law. I am particularly committed to those newly admitted to the practice and those working to serve our communities on a broader basis through election or appointments to public and judicial offices.”
    In addition to her work with TLAW and ETLAW, Hall teaches periodically as an adjunct professor of advanced trial practice at The University of Tennessee College of Law. With the Knoxville Bar Association, she serves on various committees including: Unmet Legal Needs of Children, Membership, Functions, Work/Life Balance, and the Inter-professional Relations Committee, which she co-chaired for many years.
    She has frequently been a guest lecturer to graduate level students at The University of Tennessee and has given seminars to her colleagues and other professional groups on issues ranging from medical malpractice, Medicare Appeals, negotiations and ethics.
    Her practice is exclusively in litigation in a broad range of fields including medical malpractice, products liability, personal injury, employment discrimination, wrongful death, consumer protection and insurance defense.
