One of two of the early voting locations in Sevier County is at the Seymour Branch of the Sevier County Public Library System.
Early voting at the Seymour Library begins July 22 and will continue on the 23, 24, 29, 30, and 31. Early voting times are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
The purpose of early voting is to give residents a chance to come out and vote early so they don’t have to wait in long lines on Election Day.
The Sevier County Election Commission prints off an application for early voters to sign and they will then cast their vote on machines that are designated for early voters. The machines are the same type that will be used on Election Day.
Seymour Library Branch Manager Tony Krug said that early voters are encouraged to use the library’s side door to avoid library traffic and activity.
“During the peak times the goal really is to keep people from standing in long lines and to minimize wait time,” he said. “Our doors are always open though, and we would be more than happy to have people utilize the library while they are there to vote.”
The other early voting location in Sevier County is at the Voting Machine Warehouse located at 1145 Dolly Parton Pkwy in Sevierville. Voting will take place there through July 31, with the exception of Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.
Anyone who is registered to vote in Sevier County can utilize either early voting location.
