The Knoxville Tourism and Sports Corporation (KTSC) announced the booking of another multi-million dollar convention coming to Knoxville.
The Gold Wing Road Riders Association (GWRRA) will hold their annual Wing Ding 33 Convention with a theme of “Rollin’ on Rocky Top” in Knoxville July 6 through 9, 2011.
GWRRA is the world's largest single-marque social organization for owners and riders of Honda Gold Wing/Valkyrie motorcycles with a motto of “Friends for Fun, Safety and Knowledge.”
The convention will bring more than 18,000 visitors to Knoxville over the course of the four-day event which equates to representatives from their 800 chapters in all 50 states and 53 countries. Additionally, officials with the KTSC project the convention will produce an economic impact of approximately more than $25 million.
Sites of Wing Ding 33 will include Chilhowee Park, the Knoxville Civic Coliseum and the Knoxville Convention Center, which will host exhibitors and vendors.
“GWRRA is thrilled to return to Knoxville,” said Ed Price, GWRRA Marketing Director. “One of the many reasons we chose Knoxville for Wing Ding 33 was the incomparable Southern hospitality that Knoxville knows how to provide.”
At each Wing Ding convention, GWRRA chooses a local charity to give back to, holding raffles and putting up donation boxes through the event.
Officials with GWRRA expect to choose a Knoxville charity within the coming months.
