School counselors and administrators are invited to a free training on using the Tennessee College and Career Planning System on July 27 at Walters State Community College.
The training session will concentrate on using the KUDER-based system. The session runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in room 264 of the Clifford H. “Bo” Henry Center for Business and Technology.
“This is a great opportunity to learn about the state’s system of college and career planning,” said Cathy Woods, coordinator of Technical Education and P-16 at Walters State.
“The session also serves as a great refresher course, so experienced system users are also welcome. Counselors and teachers will also have an opportunity to learn about degree options and programs of study offered at Walters State,” Woods added.
The training session will also help those just implementing the Tennessee College and Career Planning System at their school. Information covered will include occupational exploration, postsecondary planning, financial aid assistance and work value assessments.
The session will also cover the administrative database, which will be valuable for curriculum and course planning, grant writing, budgeting and articulation.
More information on the Tennessee College and Career Planning System is available at www.planningyourdreams.org. The system is customized to meet the needs of Tennessee students and ensure that students across the state have access to the educational, postsecondary and career planning resources needed to prepare for a lifetime of success, according to Woods.
To register or for more information, contact Woods at Catherine.Woods@ws.edu or (423) 585-2661 before July 15. Space is limited.
