     Seymour High School’s Class of 2010 was awarded diplomas during their Commencement Exercises on Monday at Thompson Boling Arena.
     After the students’ processional the SHS Chorus sang “This Day” while being directed by Jean Burkhart.
     During the ceremony 251 seniors received their diplomas, and 133 students did so with scholarship offers.
     The class of 2010 had two Salutatorians, Maria DeLucia and Stephen Martin.
    The seven students who tied for the honor of Valedictorian by having received perfect 4.0 grade point averages also gave speeches at the commencement.
     The Valedictorians for 2010 are Lindsay Boling, Tia Collier, Olivia Crisp, Cara Monghi, Juliet Sutphin, Andrew Turner, and D.J. Young.
     Also among the graduating class were 31 students in the Top Ten Percent. These students graduated with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 and had to complete the appropriate honors course work.
     The first 22 Top 10 Percent Students of 2010, in increasing grade point average, are Faith Williams, Rachel Miller, Tyson Collier, Michelle Taylor, Trevor Mayes, Kelsey Fleming, Haylee Haggard, Kegan Drysdale, Wes Burkhart, Eric Pidkowicz, Robert Krane, Paige Taylor, Michael Raimondi, Deborah Huddleston, Kayla Clabo, Madison Allison, William Arlinghaus, Casey Ford, Joseph Snyder, Erika Carrodeguas, David Call and Thomas Blalock.
