Townsend – “A Patriotic Tribute 2010” will be held at Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center in Townsend on May 28 to recognize members of all branches of the U. S. Armed Forces.
     The event, introduced in 2009, will begin at 7 p.m. in the Center’s covered amphitheater and includes readings and special music to celebrate patriotism on the Memorial Day weekend. The event is open to the public.
     Admission is $4 and free for Heritage Center members and children under six years of age. With proper identification, members of the military and their families will be able to attend the event for $1 per person.  Snacks and non-alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase on-site.
     The hour and a half program will feature special music by Bob Ergenbright, Music Director, Broadway United Methodist Church, Maryville, and Gale Hafner, organist for the church. In addition, readings of excerpts from well-known American speeches and historic documents will be presented by Lieutenant General R. A. Tiebout, USMC Retired.
