Some Seymour residents were surprised by different aspects of last week’s Primary Elections.
Whether it was the results, or the low voter turn out, the outcome after Tuesday’s primaries was not what some residents expected.
Resident Al Baker said she was surprised by the results.
“I thought the people of Seymour were going to vote differently,” she said. “I would have thought that Seymour would have been ready for a change.
“I’ve been trying to get change ever since I moved here.”
Another resident, who asked not to be named, said he wasn’t so much surprised by the results as the low voter turnout.
“It is a shame that politicians have created an environment that has made people feel like their vote doesn’t count,” he said. “My real concern is that people didn’t get out and vote.”
Resident Jim Green said he was surprised some of the incumbents were reelected. “With the opposition that was going around against some of the candidates I was surprised some of them got back in,” he said. “I really thought at least some new people would get in.”
“In my opinion Seymour gets left behind with a lot of things.”
The Sevier County General Election will be held Aug. 5.
