The annual Sevierville Bloomin’ Barbeque & Bluegrass event will take place downtown on May 14 and 15. To facilitate the event, several streets must be temporarily closed, and the Sevier County Courthouse will close early on May 14.
     The following streets and parking areas will close at 7 p.m. on May 13, Bruce Street from Parkway to Court Ave., The City Parking lot on Bruce Street, Bruce Street from Court Ave. to the Courthouse Annex, Court Avenue from Sevier Co. Bank to Joy Street (vehicles exiting the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office must turn right onto Court Ave.).
     In addition, Commerce St. will close at approximately 1 p.m. on May 14.
     All non-event vehicles must be out of the event area by 1:30 p.m. on May 14 and the Sevier County Courthouse will close at 1 p.m. the same day.
     All streets and parking areas will reopen on May 16, at approximately 11a.m.
    Although the streets are closing, downtown businesses will remain open. Park in a nearby event parking lot and enjoy a spring stroll to downtown businesses, restaurants and shops.     
     Bloomin’ Barbeque & Bluegrass will host 55 competition barbeque cook teams from all across the United States, more than 60 certified Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS) judges, a variety of food vendors, 50 artists and crafters, big name bluegrass entertainment, a kids’ zone and the sixth annual Mountain Soul Vocal Competition.
      Bloomin’ Barbeque & Bluegrass opens on May 14 from 5 p.m. to10 p.m. and May 15 from 9 a.m. to10 p.m. Parking for the event is available throughout the downtown area, as well as First Baptist Church. Handicapped parking is available on Court Avenue.
