A local tattoo shop is holding a fundraiser to show their appreciation for the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department.
Run to the Hills Tattoo shop in Seymour will hold its first “Fill the Boot Fund” for the SVFD from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. May 1.
“It is called Fill the Boot because donations and money for the raffle tickets will be put directly into the firemen’s boots,” said tattoo artist Sarah Graham. “When they do stuff like this the firemen normally set out their boots.”
Residents are invited to come out and show their support for the department by entering a raffle, which includes several individual prizes, to get a tattoo with the majority of the proceeds going toward the SVFD, or to make a donation to the department.
Run for the Hills Tattoo will raffle off certificates for five 3-inch-by-3-inch tattoos, and will run several specials the day of the event as well. The specials include 3-inch-by-3-inch black and gray tattoos for $30 and 3-inch-by-3-inch color tattoos for $40.
Ninety percent of all tattoo proceeds, either special or regular price, will be donated to the SVFD.
In addition to the shop’s donations, several other businesses have donated to the raffle. Chepa’s Mexican Restaurant, Cutting Crew Family Hair Care, Firehouse Subs and Mr. Bob-E-Que have donated gift certificates to the raffle, and Ripley’s has also donated two group package tickets.
Cornerstone Ministry will be giving away free water bottles during the event, other refreshments will be available, and the band Hollingsworth will provide entertainment.
“You do not need to get a tattoo to have fun with us,” said Graham.
The fundraising event will be at Run to the Hills located at 114 Community Park Rd. in Seymour and will be held “rain or shine.”
