KNOXVILLE — The Knoxville Zoo is offering Zoo Camp Programs throughout the summer.
The camps include a variety of activities from animal tales to discovering what it’s like to work at the zoo.
Zoo Camp programs are offered for preschoolers through eighth-graders, and campers get up close to some of the zoo’s friendly animal residents.
Program topics range from animal stories and hometown wildlife to creating enrichment items for zoo animals and performing their own animal show on the Bird Show stage.
Zoo Camp offers weekly sessions beginning May 24 through July 26 starting at 9 a.m. daily. Each camp program is designed to appeal to the interests of the developmental stage of each age group, ensuring an entertaining week of discovery and fun.
Zoo Camp fees are $120 per week for pre-school and kindergarten sessions, $130 for first through fifth grade sessions, and $140 for sixth through eighth grade sessions. Zoo members receive a $10 discount on registration fees.
Advanced registration is required and reservations can be made by calling (865) 637-5331 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Knoxville Zoo is located off exit 392A from Interstate 40 and is nationally accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).
Currently, the zoo is open weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and weekends from 9:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Admission and ticket sales stop one hour before the zoo closes. Next-day admission is free after 3:00 p.m.
