A man was arrested after Sevierville Police Department (SPD) officers responded to a reported shooting at approximately 11:30 a.m. April 26 at the Fastop gas station, 2060 Pittman Center Road.
According to SPD Detective Lt. Sam Hinson, witnesses reported that a man fired several shots from a pistol at what appeared to be a white Honda passenger vehicle. The suspect left the scene on foot and the vehicle, believed to be occupied by two white men, left as well.
Moments later, a Sevier County Sheriff’s deputy located the suspect a short distance from the gas station on Pittman Center Road.
The man, identified as 30-year-old Linwood E. Roberts, Jr., was detained by the deputy and subsequently arrested and charged with aggravated assault. SPD Canine Officer Drew Dennis and his canine located the alleged weapon, a .38 caliber revolver, near the gas station.
Authorities are still searching for the vehicle, believed to be a white Honda passenger car that was occupied by two men. The vehicle may have bullet damage in the trunk and rear window areas.
Anyone with information about this incident is requested to contact SPD Detective Lt. Hinson at (865) 453-5506. Residents are cautioned not to approach any individuals who may be involved in this incident, but instead to contact the SPD or their local law enforcement agency.
All persons are considered innocent until found guilty in a court of law.
