AARP will hold several driver safety classes for seniors in May.
“The classes are designed to freshen up the skills of senior drivers,” said class instructor Barbra Manis.
Classes cover changes in the law, signs and signals and also offer an up-to-date state issued driver handbook as well as an AARP driving handbook.
“We cover how to make choices, when you start having trouble with your eye sight or your hearing and limitations on your flexibility,” Manis said.
Instructors will make suggestions to participants on how to adapt to these changes.
“We go into great depth and try to help seniors with the aging process,” Manis said, “and how to make decisions with their driving habits for the better.
“We are all creatures of habit and we kind of get set in our ways and this is a way we feel like we’re helping seniors to stay safer as drivers.”
