The Arrowmont Site Task Force conducted initial meetings with representatives from Gatlinburg, Knoxville and Greeneville last week regarding the future of the renowned arts and crafts school.
     For three consecutive days, the Arrowmont group held day long meetings to discuss options for the possible relocation of its campus to Knoxville or Greeneville, Tennessee and to remain in the current location in Gatlinburg.  
     Members of the Arrowmont Task Force include board members Bill May, Chairman; Bob Alcorn, Marcia Goldenstein, Susan Knowles and Jim Samples.  The task force also includes Arrowmont senior staff members David Willard, Julia Clinton, Bill Griffith, Dick Baker and Steve Reilly.  Arrowmont Board of Governors President Mary Ann Hruska also attended the meetings.
     “All three communities presented creative and exciting options for Arrowmont to consider,” stated Task Force Chairman Bill May following the meetings.  “The task force will now work to further evaluate the presentations made by all three in formulating our report and recommendations for next steps to the Board of Governors at their May meeting.”  
     In January, the Executive Committee of the Arrowmont Board of Governors appointed the Site Task Force to evaluate the viability of relocating the school to Knoxville or Greeneville or remaining in their current Gatlinburg location.  In stating their priorities for the future of the school, both the task force and the Board of Governors said control of the land and long term sustainable community support were the critical factors.
