The Seymour Eagles boys track team recently claimed third while the girls took second in the Sevier County Track Championship (The Mountain Press Relays) held at Seymour High School on a beautiful sunny spring day.
Sevier County took first in the boys with a 155 total followed by Gatlinburg-Pittman with 52 points and Seymour with 41.
For the third straight year both the Sevier county boys and girls won the Championship.
The girls point total was Sevier County with 108 followed by Seymour with 68, Pigeon Forge with 36 and Gatlinburg-Pittman with 35.
The boys individual results were as follows; in the 110 hurdles Houston Hammer was 3rd with a time of 17:80 seconds; in the 100 meter Chase Ketron was second with a time of 11:26 seconds; and Patterson finished 3rd with a time 46:32 seconds in the 300 meter hurdles.
In the relay events, the Seymour boys took 3rd in the 4 x 800 meter relay with a time of 10:29 minutes and in the 4 x 400 relay Seymour finished 3rd with a time of 4:08.
In the field events the Eagle’s Wes White took 3rd with a throw of 37’ 5”; and in the discus Wes White finished 2nd with a 101’ 2” throw and Jordan Lee finished 3rd with a 99’ 8” throw.
Individual Seymour girls who placed were as follows; Melacon 1st in the 3200 meter run with a time of 14:11; Samantha Ferguson 2nd in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 18.08 seconds ; and Elizabeth Cody 2nd in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.04 seconds;
In the individual field events, in the Long Jump Seymour’s Cowan finished 2nd with a 15’4 “ jump; Hailey Clark took 1st with a 4’10” leap; in the shot put Shayla Brown finished 3rd with a 27’7.5” throw giving the Eagles 2 out of the first three places in the discus.
In the team relays, Seymour took two 2nds and two 3rds. The two 3rd place finishes were in the 4×400 relays with a time of 5:21; and the 4×800 relay with a time of 12:07.
The two runner-up finishes were in the 4×200 relay with a time of 1:57.8; and in the 4×100 relay with a time of 53:35 seconds.
Next up for the Eagles Track team will be at Cocke County High school on Thursday April 15th at 4:30PM.
