Sevierville Police Department officers arrested a Sevier County man the evening of March 26 after he was involved in a traffic crash on Winfield Dunn Parkway (Highway 66) at approximately 11:40 p.m.
According to SPD Officers Graham Ownby and Mike Lequire, 52-year old David L. Kendrick was reportedly exiting the Kroger store in a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro on Highway 66, when he collided with a van carrying an Ohio family that was traveling south on Highway 66.
Three children from the van, aged 1, 5 and 7-years old, received what appeared to be minor injuries.
Kendrick allegedly fled the crash scene on foot and was apprehended a short time later behind the Staples store on Highway 66.
He was subsequently charged with DUI second offense; leaving the scene of an accident; driving on a revoked license; not having automobile insurance; reckless endangerment; and having an open alcohol container in his vehicle. Additional charges are pending.
