Nine Seymour food service establishments were inspected during the month of March.
Each of the restaurants passed inspections performed by the Tennessee Department of Health. The health department considers any score below 70 as unsanitary.
The law requires that restaurants have an unannounced inspection at least once every six months to determine if they are in compliance with applicable rules and regulations at the time of inspection. In addition to routine inspections, unannounced inspections are conducted in response to individual complaints.
Tennessee uses a 44 item inspection sheet with a maximum of 100 points. Thirteen of the items are considered critical. Critical items, found out of compliance, must be corrected within ten days.
Tied for the month’s highest score of 97 were Wendy’s on Chapman Hwy. on March 4 and Z Mex on Chapman Hwy. on March 5.
Receiving the month’s second highest score of 96 was Seymour High School on March 3.
Sonic on Chapman Hwy. received a 95 on March 16 and Seymour Community Christian School received a 94 on March 23.
     Bob-E-Que received a 92 on March 3 and Taste of Country received a 91 on March 23.
Chepas and Zaxby’s, both on Chapman Hwy., each received a score of 90.
