Smoky Mountain Animal Clinic in Seymour will hold its first Open House next month.
The open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 1 and will include educational booths, a dunking booth, food, a parade of breeds, demonstrations, door prizes, raffles, pet costume contests and clinic tours.
“We are trying to get an agility club to come out and do some demonstrations, as well as police dogs,” said Crystal Hamilton of Smoky Mountain Animal Clinic.
Exact plans for the event are scheduled to be finalized in April.
“It is for the community to come out and meet our vets,” Hamilton said.
All of the money the clinic makes from the raffle and other activities will be split between the Sevier County Humane Society and toward an injured horse’s care at the UT equine hospital.
“The horse has been there for a few months now,” said Hamilton. “He got impaled by a big stick.
“The owner has occurred about $34,000 in medical bills, so half of the proceeds are going to go to him.”
Further details on the events will be released sometime in April.
