St. Paul Episcopal Church will celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Easter Day, the Sunday of the Resurrection, at 10:30 a.m. April 4 with The Holy Eucharist, a celebration of the Lord’s Supper and Homily with the Rev. A. Henry Swann presiding.
The meaning of Easter is Jesus Christ's victory over death. His resurrection symbolizes the eternal life that is granted to all who believe in Him. The meaning of Easter also symbolizes the complete verification of all that Jesus preached and taught during His three-year ministry.
His resurrection gave final and irrefutable proof that He was really the Son of God and that He had conquered death once and for all.
The eight days after Easter are called the Easter octave, or Easter Week and the season of Easter, from Easter Day through the Day of Pentecost, is called the Great Fifty Days.
During this time, there are many opportunities to practice the faith that was recently affirmed during Holy Week by participating in your church’s worship and educational activities as well as by helping the needy in your community through your church’s outreach activities.
At St. Paul Episcopal Church in Seymour, we are continuing the celebration of the Resurrection during the Great Fifty Days of Eastertide with Sunday services beginning at 10:30 a.m. and at the Christian Education program preceding the service, beginning at 9:30 a.m. See our Web site at www.stpaulepiscopalchurch.org for more information.
