The Sevierville Police Department will offer several free child safety services at Sevierville City Park, 1005 Park Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 27.
     The following services will be available:
     Child Fingerprinting: SPD Officers will be on hand to fingerprint children of all ages and provide parents with a comprehensive Child Identification kit that can include the child’s fingerprints, DNA, photograph, dental records and other personal information. Law enforcement officials highly recommend that parents keep this type of information on hand, so that they can be used in the event their child is lost or abducted. For divorced parents, we recommend that each parent keep this information at their residence.
     Free Gun Locks:  As part of the national Project ChildSafe program, free cable-style gun locking devices will be available. The purpose of Project ChildSafe is to promote safe firearms handling and storage practices.
     Stranger Danger Program: Over 750,000 children are reported missing each year in the United States. The Stranger Danger program seeks to educate children and parents about strangers, how they may attempt to abduct a child and what to do if an attempted abduction or abuse occurs.
