Eight Seymour food service establishments were inspected during the month of February.
Each of the restaurants passed inspections performed by the Tennessee Department of Health. The health department considers any score below 70 as unsanitary.
The law requires that restaurants have an unannounced inspection at least once every six months to determine if they are in compliance with applicable rules and regulations at the time of inspection. In addition to routine inspections, unannounced inspections are conducted in response to individual complaints.
Tennessee uses a 44 item inspection sheet with a maximum of 100 points. Thirteen of the items are considered critical. Critical items, found out of compliance, must be corrected within ten days.
Receiving the highest score in Seymour during the month was Little Hands Preschool Kitchen on Phoenix Ct. with a 97.
Tied for the month’s second place score of 96 were Best Friends Daycare Food on Tittsworth Springs and Seymour Primary School on Boyd’s Creek.
Lucky’s Pizza on Boyd’s Creek received a score of 95 on Feb. 2, McDonalds on Chapman scored a 93 on Feb. 5 and Seymour High School received a 91 on Feb. 22.
Bob-E-Que on Chapman Hwy. received a score of 87 on Feb. 22 and Chepas received a score of 80 on Feb. 19.
