PIGEON FORGE — American Idol finalist Melinda Doolittle will be the guest star in the Miracle Theater’s Broadway-style production of Tim Rice’s and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” March 1 through April 9.
This will be Doolittle’s first appearance at the Miracle Theater. In “Jospeph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” the singer will interact with the audience as she takes on the role of the narrator. A meet and greet period will follow each performance for those who purchase a VIP pass.
“I am so excited," Doolittle said about the upcoming run at the Miracle Theater. "I love shows that are out of the box. I like to have fun on stage and tell a great story that's funny and lively."
The singer attended Belmont University and sang background vocals for stars such as Michael McDonald, and CeCe Winans before auditioning for American Idol. Her debut album, “Coming Back to You” was hailed by critics.
Since leaving American Idol as its third-place contender, Doolittle has been traveling with her band both in the United States and abroad. In June 2007, the Brentwood resident visited Zambia with former first lady Laura Bush and the Malaria No More organization to distribute life-saving bed nets and raise awareness about the disease.
