The Sevier County Sheriff’s Department has come out with its activity report for October, November and December of 2009.
During the month of October the department received 3,648 calls, resulting in 272 arrests and 441 jail bookings. The average daily population in the jail was 379.
As part of the litter program 228 miles were worked and 55,290 pounds of litter was collected during October.
Animal control received 342 calls in October and picked up 154 animals, which consisted of 67 dogs, 76 cats and 11 other types of animals.
The department received 3,256 calls for service in November, with 219 arrests and 396 jail bookings. The average daily population in jail was 386.
During November 161 miles were worked as part of the litter program and 32,676 pounds of litter was collected.
Animal control received 350 calls and picked up 131 animals. Of these animals 90 were dogs, 30 were cats and 11 were classified as “other.”
In December the department received 3,668 calls for service which resulted in 253 arrests and 394 jail bookings. The average jail population was 356.
As part of the litter program 138 miles were worked and 26,726 pounds of litter was collected.
Animal control received 286 calls in December and picked up 65 dogs, 24 cats and 2 animals classified as “other.”
For the fiscal year the Sheriff’s Department had 21,665 calls for service, had 1,534 arrests and 2,735 jail bookings. The average daily jail population was 360.
Over the fiscal year 229,242 pounds of litter was collected and 1,059 miles were worked.
Animal control received 2,273 calls during the fiscal year and picked up 921 animals, including 454 dogs, 395 cats and 72 animals classified as other.
