There was an increase in the number of circulated items in all three branches of the Sevier County Library System in the second quarter of 2009.
The entire system circulated 47,796 items during the second quarter of 2009, compared to 37,605 items in the same quarter of 2008.
Of these items the Seymour Branch circulated 19,383, up from 16,287 from the previous year’s quarter.
The Main Library circulated 20,037 items and the Kodak Branch circulated 8,376 items. Both libraries also saw an increase from the previous year.
The entire library system saw a decrease of 11 percent in new adult patrons, as well as new juvenile or young adult patrons.
However, the system saw a 45 percent increase in adult programs with a 67 percent increase in adult attendees. Also, the system saw a 49 percent increase in children or young adult programs and a 29 percent increase of attendees.
The number of patrons using the system’s computers also increased, with 16,595 using them during the second quarter in 2009, compared to 13,837 using computers during the same quarter in 2008.
Sevier County resident card holders increased only 1 percent from 2008, with 39,464 in the 2009 second quarter and 39,057 in the 2008 second quarter. But, non-resident card holders increased 12 percent with 2,220 in 2009, up from 1,991 in 2008.
