According to Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals a Sevier County pair have been arrested in connection with several car burglaries that occurred in the Pullen Road area on Jan. 23 in the early morning hours.
Seals states that approximately 25 cars were burglarized in Willow Trace, Snappwood and Deer Meadows subdivisions that were sitting in homeowner’s driveways.
On Saturday morning a credit card taken from one of the vehicles was used at a local convenience store and Sheriffs Detectives retrieved the video surveillance tapes and were able to identify the subjects from the tape.
They were identified as Gladys M. Mantooth, age 25 and Barry G. Beiter, age 25 both of 278 Ingle Hollow Road, Sevierville.
Detectives then were able track the subjects to another location where they were taken into custody without incident.
Officers were also able to recover a large amount of stolen property from the auto burglaries that were in the possession of the pair.
Both were charged with 25 counts of Burglary of a Motor vehicle and they were arraigned before a Magistrate. A $40,000.00 bond was set for Beiter. Mantooth is being held until he appears in court.
Seals states that if anyone has any information about the pair or had property taken from a car burglary to call Det. Matthew Cubberley at 428-1899.
