About a week ago is when the weather began to thaw out and residents started to see more average temperatures for this time of year.
This week’s temperatures of highs in the mid to upper 50s and lows above freezing are a far cry from what residents dealt with for the first part of January.
Frigid temperatures moved into the area on Jan. 2 with a high of 27 degrees and a low of 17 degrees.
This trend continued for 11 days with temperatures falling as low as 10 degrees at night.

“We have been thrown for a loop with this weather, it’s pretty unusual,” Seymour Primary School Principal Dr. Jan Moore said about the freezing temperatures.
The current weather with highs in the upper 50s is about 10 degrees above average for this time of year, but temperatures are expected to return to average as week goes on with highs in the upper 40s and lows in the upper 20s.
