In a rare but very welcome sight, Seymour Schools, Primary, Intermediate, Middle and High School are uniting in a unified effort to raise $100,000 for the students.  The prize is being provided by the “Calling all Communities Campaign” sponsored by a national cell phone company.
The schools cannot do this alone however. To win the contest, there will need to be a united effort from principals, teachers, parents, students and all citizens of the Seymour Community.  Overwhelming support needs to be generated to show your community pride.
So you are asking, “What do I do?” Go to the cellular phone distributorships at the following location, Be There Wireless Inc. at 7425 Chapman Highway, or call one of the Seymour schools for any further information from November 11, 2009 through January 15, 2010.   You will receive a code to use online to vote for Seymour High School.  The ten schools nationwide with the most votes will receive $100,000.  All four schools will receive an equal amount of money by voting for Seymour High School.
All schools public and private K-12 qualify.  Local winners last year from this area were Heritage and Bearden High Schools.  One million dollars will be given to 10 schools ($100,000 per school).  As you can see, winners do not always come from large metropolitan areas.  “It is not the size of the community that matters, but the will and power of the community to respond” said Charlie Householder, coordinator from Seymour High School.
According to Greg Clark, Principal at Seymour High School, “If we concentrate our vote on one school instead of splitting up the votes on four schools, we stand a much better chance of success.  With all four schools cooperating, sharing the effort and sharing the funds, all Seymour’s students can win.  Every dollar will be spent on direct programs and technology to help students’ at all four schools.”
“I want all people to get out and vote for the Seymour Schools,” stated Peggy Oakes, Principle of Seymour Intermediate. She continued, “Education it vital and this is a great way to help.”
Faye Nelson, Principal of Seymour Middle had this to say, “Let’s show the country how much we support our children’s future through education.  Our hope is that this money will make a real impact on our children’s educational future.”
“Keep the fire going and don’t let up, keep voting for our schools,” Jan Moore stated.
