The annual CROSS Ministries Fundraiser Auction on the 12th of this month had great attendance, but fell short of auction items.
The parking lot was full of vehicles and parking was made easier by several volunteers that directed traffic.
Auction items included everything from tools donated by the licensed auctioneer Dick Rose and others, a variety of items by local businesses, churches and individuals, according to CROSS president Charlie Duso.
“This is our annual fundraiser to get money to help people who need it for food,” Duso told The Herald.
Rose and other volunteers from the community were on hand to help. Even the former Seymour Volunteer Fire Department Chief JB Johnson help as one of the spotters at the auction.
Nineteen churches are currently part of CROSS and several of the businesses that have supported CROSS in the past have gone out of business making this year's auction more difficult, according to Duso.
“People need more help now than ever and consequently we need more donation to help those in need,” Duso stated.
Still many businesses and individuals came through with contributions for this year’s auction, including Auto Zone, Advanced Auto, IHOP, Gondolier, Little Italian Kitchen and Mr. Bob-E-Que.
