What have I found out about Seymour folks. With the national financial situation we have, this community is still pretty generous. Actually it seems that the whole country is. From what I see and hear around and about our generosity is as good or better than in the past. I’m seeing and hearing the same as most of the country is also in dire straits. This speaks well for our country and people…and national ideals. The rest of the world, who knows. This is information I like to hear and pass on. When we are doing this we are acting in accord with God’s will. When people become generous in times like this I don’t think they are trying to buy a ticket to Heaven, they are truly doing this out of compassion. Thank God that we are whom we are.
What I see in most criminal cases are ‘people’ who refuse to be an active contributing member of the community. Aren’t you tired of the arrestee being described as having an extensive criminal history resulting in many convictions and prison sentences? Let’s take a closer look. Just from their last sentence and incarceration add it up. They wouldn’t even be on the streets to commit their latest crime. If all their last sentences were added up they would ultimately be serving life. Don’t blame this on our fine law enforcement officers. There are attorneys on both sides as well as judges and parole boards. Sometimes it seems they are seeking to provide themselves with job security.
A dangerous highway or dangerous drivers? Not being a highway engineer I suppose I should keep my mouth shut. I probably drive to Knoxville round trip four times a week, mostly mid-morning or early afternoon. Generally these are fairly leisurely, comfortable trips. And at the posted speed limits the highway poses no problems. When the occasional situation occurs it is always attributed to someone’s asinine behavior, usually a deliberate act which is obviously a violation of law. Most of the traffic that time of day is responsible and courteous. Morning rush hour and evening rush hour traffic is another matter. Chapman Highway becomes a dangerous place to be, Folks, it’s not the highway, it’s the unthinking, inconsiderate dolts who are dangerous. This is not to say that physical changes should not be made. Most ‘people’ with bad driving habits won’t make changes. One answer is more traffic cameras and the presence of more officers enforcing traffic laws and mandatory sentences to driving schools. Money and or time seem to have their effect.
You have heard this till you are blue in the face or at least the ears. Wash your hands after touching what many others touch. Wash with soap and warm water for twenty seconds. Turn off the water with a paper towel and try not to use door knobs or other items which are contaminated.
What will this winter be? I actually haven’t heard much chatter, (I don’t Twitter), I had a stranger in the house to repair our cable for TV and internet. I asked him and he retorted ”I hear it’s going to be bad, real bad.” Be a good scout and be prepared, little by little is better than getting ready at the last minute.
Pray for your neighbors and friends, for our leaders and ourselves, read your bible or holy books. With the world condition we need to get out as much prayer as we can.
Please remember Tim James as he would still like to get a wheelchair lift for their van so he can be transported. Among other places there is a ‘Contribution Jar’ at Connie’s Kitchen on Chapman Highway.
