Former Congressman David Davis offered the opening prayer at the tax protest rally that took place on Labor Day, September 7th, at Memorial Park, 1650 Ft. Henry Drive, Kingsport TN, across from Dobyns-Bennett High School.
Former Congressman Davis opened the event with a prayer for our country and then spoke to the crowd.
In discussing the event, Davis stated, "Earlier this year the Congress passed the largest budget ever passed in American history. A budget that increases the power of the federal government, raises taxes, and increases our national debt. Despite the deterioration of our economy, this year's budget is $3.6 trillion; some $1.5 trillion more than the federal government has to spend. You can not manage your family's finances like that, it won't work! A business can not manage its business finances like that, it won't work! And, our elected representatives can not manage our federal budget like that, it won't work!"
Former Congressman Davis will be discussing several pieces of legislation that are moving through the United States House of Representatives this year. Some of the bills that he will discuss deal with the (TARP) program, the unconstitutional income tax on TARP recipients, the major increase in the amount of our money that our elected representatives are willing to send overseas to fund other countries, the costly Cap and Trade bill, the Cash for Clunkers legislation, the massive overhaul of our healthcare system, and the almost $50 million for sea otters and sea turtles.
