The Lady Eagles volleyball team opened their season in the KIL tournament with a win & 2 losses. After losing to Halls 23-25, 24-26, the team rebounded with a victory over Knox West 25-21, 25-12.
The team then lost to a talented Knox Catholic team 13-25, 19-25.
The team then traveled to Morristown West on Tuesday for their initial district contest in the IMAC Conference.
The upstart Lady Eagles, with no seniors and only two players with varsity experience going into the season, showed themselves that they can hang with, at least, one of the power teams in the district.
"I was very pleased with our performance against West", commented Coach Ed Irvin. "We knew that we were going to be at the bottom of the ladder in this new AAA league. There are no breathers in our district schedule, therefore we are going to have to grow up quickly or suffer a subpar season".
Thursday's matchup is between the Eagles and Cocke County at Cocke County. Mondays play is against Clinton and Halls at Clinton. The first home game is scheduled for September 1st at Seymour against the Cherokees with JV beginning at 5:00 p.m. and Varsity at 6:00 p.m.
Stats: After Mondays Matchup
Halls 25 26
Seymour 23 24
Hannah Moore- 10 points
Kasey Norman- 20 spikes, 7 kills, 13 sets, 1 assists
