Townsend, TN – Foothills Kiwanis of Townsend will host its second annual barbecue and concert this Saturday, August 29, at Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center in Townsend.
Barbecue will be served beginning at 5:30 pm and will feature Miss Lily’s famous BBQ Plate – BBQ pork, beans and slaw, and a cookie. Drink is included. The evening’s music will be provided by the popular Lost Mill String Band, beginning at 7:00 pm. Both the meal and concert will take place in the Center’s covered amphitheater.
Ticket includes meal and concert and may be purchased from any Foothills Kiwanis member or at the door. Cost is $15.00 per person, or $10.00 for children under 12.
The annual event raises funds for Walland Elementary School, Townsend Elementary School, Hearts & Hands, Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont, Mary Tippett Library, Little River Lumber Company Museum and the Heritage Center.
The Heritage Center is located between the Townsend traffic light and the national park entrance, on Highway 73.
