According to Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals a Sevier County man and woman have been arrested in connection with a rental cabin burglary.
Seals states that on Monday morning August 10th 2009 Sevier Co. Officers responded to a burglary in progress in the Cobbly Knob Resort off East Parkway.
When officers arrived they found Donna K. Maples, age 23, of 3031 Jones Cove Rd. Sevierville still at the cabin. Officers determined that a male subject, later identified as Donnie Travis Matthews, age 27, of 4173 Wilhite Rd. Sevierville had fled the scene on foot.
Maples was taken into custody at that time and charged with 1 count of Aggravated Burglary. Det. Jeff Manis recovered a TV, DVD player, and other electronics that came from the cabin in the car that the pair was driving at the time of the burglary.
Warrants were issued for Matthews and he was apprehended on Tuesday night 8/11/2009 at his home without incident.
Matthews was also charged with another count of Agg. Burglary in connection with another cabin burglary that occurred the same night also in the Cobbly Knob Resort. Matthews was arraigned before a magistrate and released on a $2200.00 bond and Maples was released on a $2000.00 bond. A hearing date has been set for Sept. 14th for the pair in General Sessions Court.
