Why is it in this day of unprecedented unemployment rates that incompetent people still have their jobs, with year after year of proven incompetence?  In today’s job market there are tens of thousands of well qualified people out of work, and actively seeking gainful employment. People who if had a job would most likely be thankful to have it and in turn would take pride in their work, and do their job right. I see no reason whatsoever for someone who is lazy, unappreciative of the job they have, to continue to have said job.
I say all this due to yet another bad experience with our Seymour/Sevier County School System.  Funny how every time I go to an orientation all I hear are horror stories about the school employees, from complaints about the teachers in charge of shaping our children’s minds, to the office staff, amongst ourselves?
Here’s an idea, why doesn’t everyone in this county write a letter of complaint to our Sevier County School’s Director of Schools, Dr. Jack A. Parton. Isn’t it his job to make sure our schools are running properly with competent and courteous staff?
So fellow Seymourian’s here’s my challenge to you. Write a letter of complaint detailing what problems you have had and with whom, be sure to name names, to the Sevier County School’s Director of Schools, Dr. Jack A. Parton and also send a copy off to the Tennessee State Board of Education’s Executive Director, Dr. Gary L. Nixon and a copy to the Seymour Herald..
Let’s see if we can make a change here. Let’s get rid of the headaches and replace them with a pleasant school experience for both you and your children. I am calling for a Sevier County School clean out, I and many others have had several problems with the same people year after year. Why they still have a job is truly beyond my comprehension.
Here is a quote directly from the Sevier.org website called “A message from the director” with a statement like this he seems to care, right? Well let’s find out.
“Good schools are essential as parents, educators, and the community work together to prepare Sevier County's children for a bright future.” Jack A. Parton.
Here’s another great quote directly from the Tn State Board of Education website under Biography of the Executive Director.
“Dr. Nixon believes that every school must have effective leadership that results in increased student achievement.”  Here again, he also seems like a caring guy, but again people lets see how much he does care.
Write those letters, mail it, e-mail it, fax it, however you decide to send it I’ve made it easy for you. I have included both the websites and all contact information for both the Sevier County School System and the Tennessee State Board of Education. Let’s see if we can make a change. Remember Dr. Jack Parton’s quote above, he wants the community to work together, well lets get started.
And let me know what you think. Send me email at myvoice@seymourherald.com. Or you can leave a comment on the website after this story.
