Thanks to a great staff and the invention of computers, I am writing this column at 5:20 AM Wednesday in our condo at Myrtle Beach.
We came here for two reasons. One to compare the area business climate to that of Sevier County, and two to combine it with a little R&R.
I’ll be reporting on the business climate next week. After all, it takes a lot of energy to collect info so I need to rest up a bit.
We were quite surprised how difficult it was to get an oceanfront room with a view as they were all sold out with very few exceptions. After several attempts, we did finally prevale. Next time, we’ll plan ahead.
I'm important, so quite often I get asked to speak to different groups about the paper or the Seymour community. This past Saturday morning the men’s breakfast group at Bethel United Methodist Church on Hwy 411 asked me to share breakfast with them. This group of fine men enjoy a great breakfast, fellowship and then discuss how they can help a needy person or family.
The day I was there, they discussed a family where the husband had suffered a stroke an the wife lost her job and the front porch needed attention. The group voted to get a work party together to get the job done.
Thank goodness this is not the only church group to help people in times of need.
Anyone looking for help in such a way or a job, I’ll make the Seymour Herald classified section available at no charge to those. Just send us your classified ad seeking help or a job.

Some businesses are beginning to rehire. Blalocks was fortunate to get the contract on the Hwy 66 road widening project. That will put many locals back to work. All good signs.
Good attitude is vital in times like this.
Just as there are two sides to every story, their are at least two ways to look at every situation.
One’s glass is half empty or it’s half full.
Which we choose says a lot about our attitude.
Let’s keep filling the glasses.
