Seymour man calls 911, claims his home was robbed by two men.
According to Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals a Seymour man has been charged with staging a home invasion.
Seals states that on Monday July 20th Anthony Paul Davis called 911 and stated that he had been a Victim of a home invasion at his residence on Maxwell Lane in Seymour.
Sheriffs Officers arrived and an investigation was initiated. K-9 units were called to the scene and a ground search was conducted.
Davis told officers that two men came in his home and assaulted him. He said the men took some cash he was saving for rent.
Subsequent to the investigation Davis was brought to the Sheriffs’ office where after questioning he admitted that he made up the story about the robbery because he had spent the money.
During the investigation it was also learned that Davis, who is a registered sex offender in Sevier County, had not reported his employment and he was charged with violation of the sex offender reporting act.
Davis was charged with making a false police report in connection with the bogus robbery report. He was arraigned before a magistrate and is currently incarcerated in Sevier Co. Jail under a $5000.00 Bond.
