There are some pythons that make their home here in Seymour and nearby in other surrounding areas. No way are they a native species. They are not poisonous but they can pose a threat to man and beast alike.
For example; an eight foot python escaped from his glass terrarium. The snake’s owner awoke to find the snake missing and immediately went to the child’s room to find the child dead and the python in the readying process of consuming the child.
Pythons won’t eat live food. First they constrict, squeeze the life out of the prey and then go ahead and devour the prey. Something the size of a two year old child would be prepared by a licking like process making the prey easier to swallow and digest. You are not too apt to be confronted. However a small child or you pet would make a ready target.
In South America it is not uncommon for a twenty foot long python will eat a cow or pig, a medium sized man or a boy.
