Several young Christians from Jefferson County spent an afternoon converting 55-gallon soybean oil containers into rain barrels. They are members of the Dandridge First United Methodist Youth Group (DFUMC-Youth Group) and are selling rain barrels to raise money for Youth missions here and in Kenya.
A portion of the money raised will be sent to the Christian Mission to Learners (CML) in the Rongo District of the Nyanza Province, Kenya to assist in the purchase of a large water storage tank (see picture attached to this email) and guttering system. The large water storage tank is necessary to store water for use during the non-rainy season.
Together, the guttering system and large water storage tank (10,000 liter tank) could provide an abundance of clean drinking water for the CML.
