Alice Dixon, who worked for the Knoxville Chamber for more than 40 years, died Monday, June 8th. She was 90.
Dixon was born in Georgetown, Ky., and grew up in Sevierville, where her father owned and operated Lee’s Drug Store. She graduated from Sevier County High School in 1937 as valedictorian.
Ms. Dixon went to work in the 1960s at the Chamber’s old office in the Andrew Johnson Building on Gay Street.
Over the years, she worked in every department of the agency. He job keep her busy
keeping up the Chamber’s records, clipping newspaper stories and recording major events. Survivors include her two children, a brother and a grandson. The burial was held in Shiloh Cemetery in Pigeon Forge.
