The Sevier County Veterans of Foreign Wars spent Memorial Day weekend selling poppies to fund the various community programs they sponsor.

The organization, which includes 75 members, 12 active, in the Sevier County area, uses the money to help fund a clothing locker at Seymour Primary School, as well as a scholarship that is awarded to one area high school graduate each year. This year, Voight said the scholarship will be awarded to a Seymour High School graduate.

The scholarship will be announced and awarded at the VFW's June 16 meeting.
