Last Friday, Lady Eagle point guard Ashleigh Elliot committed to continuing her education and basketball career at Maryville College.
Elliot was a two year starter for the Lady Eagles, averaging 10 points and three assists per game during her senior campaign.
Elliott led Seymour to a 44-18 record over her last two seasons while winning a district title in 2008 and a regional crown in 2009. She was a two year member of the All-District Tournament Team and earned All-Region Tournament Team and All-Sevier County honors as a senior.
"She meant everything to the team. I hate that I only had her for one year. She's a special kid. I think she was our heartbeat. The success we had would not have been possible without her. She's as good of a leader as I've ever been around. She a great, great kid. She's resilient, she's tough, she's smart, she's unselfish – she's all those things, and that's what makes her such a good player," Coach Andy Rines said.
"She did a lot of little things that weren't obvious in terms of leadership and had a toughness that you just don't see a whole lot of anymore. I can't say enough good things about her. We're really going to miss her," he continued.... read the rest of the story by Subscribing now.
