Kayla Fekete, SMS 8th grader, medaled with the lowest individual score during the middle school district tournament, shooting 45 on the day for her best ever district performance.

According to Fekete, she birdied the first hole and knew right then that she was on her game. She finished the day four strokes ahead of the second place finisher.

Fekete has been on the golf team since 6th grade, and winning first was a goal she'd been working toward for three years. While she hopes to continue her golf career in college, right now she's just looking to do well in the region and make it to the state tournament. After that, she'll focus on making the high school golf team.
