As a physician and a member of the House Agriculture Committee, Congressman Phil Roe is encouraging Tennesseans to take precautions against swine flu to prevent the spread of this virus.
“Swine Influenza Virus – aka Swine Flu – should be taken seriously, but there is no need for panic,” said Roe. “Some basic precautions can prevent individuals from contracting the illness and stopping the spread of this virus.”
Dr. Roe advises people to take to prevent being infected by swine flu:
Wash your hands frequently with soap and water since swine flu, like other viruses, can be contracted by touching objects contaminated by the virus. It's unclear how long the swine flu virus can survive on surrounding surfaces.
