The Sevier County Commission voted Monday in a special session to rezone 370 E. Dumplin Valley Road in Sevierville as an industrial property to bring in manufacturing company Lisega, Inc.
The motion, which reverses the county's previous vote to deny the rezoning, was passed with a vote of 18 in favor, six opposed, and one pass.
Also passed was an amendment to the motion ensuring the company will comply with certain property restriction, such as fencing and planting trees around the perimeter of the property, that apply to industrial zones. The amendment was passed by a vote of 22 in favor, two opposed and one pass.
The two motions were passed following a public hearing in which several members of the community as well as employees of Lisega went before the commission to present their position on the rezoning.
