While it was dubbed the "Backyard Battle," Thursday's Seymour verses South Doyle match-up would have been better defined as the "Battle of the Big Bats." The two teams racked up 28 runs on 27 hits -including 17 doubles, one triple and two home runs. But unfortunately for the Eagles, who have already clinched the regular season title, they finished on the losing side of the slug fest, falling 18-10 on senior night.

The Eagles started with Keegan Newport on the mound. They gave up three runs to the Cherokees in the top of the first, but battled back in the bottom of the inning to take a 7-3 lead.

Newport kicked off the scoring for the Eagles, blasting a three run homer of over the right field wall. Taylor Lindsey then hit an RBI double to score Corbin Weaver and move the tally to four. The Eagles weren't done scoring yet though, Sam Johnson delivered an RBI double to plate designated runner Ben Whisler, and Cody Fox drilled a triple down the first base line to score Johnson and Mark Funderburk.
