The Tennessee Smokies opened their home season with a loss, falling to the Birmingham Barons 6-2 on opening night.
Over 2,600 fans turned out for opening night festivities, but the crowd was quickly quieted after the Barons poured in three runs in the top of the first.
The Smokies answered in the bottom of the second, scoring Brandon Guyer on a Richie Robnett triple. Robnett would then make it home himself on a pass ball, cutting the lead to 3-2 before heading into the top of the third.
