MURFREESBORO – U.S. Senators Lamar Alexander and Bob Corker toured tornado-damaged areas of Rutherford County today. Following a briefing by TEMA and Rutherford County officials, Alexander and Corker visited several hard-hit areas including the Indian Springs subdivision, where they walked down Tomahawk Trace and talked with affected residents.
“The area’s first responders are doing a first-rate job, and I'm going to do my very best to assure that requests for help get prompt federal approval,” Alexander said. “Our prayers are with the families hurt by the storm, but especially with those who lost loved ones.”
“The random nature of these storms reminds us how fragile life is, and we certainly pray for those who have experienced great loss,” Corker said. “It is always heartening to see the way communities pull together to get through something like this, as the city of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County are doing, and we stand ready to work with local and state officials.”
Alexander and Corker were joined by General Gus Hargett, Murfreesboro Mayor Tommy Bragg, Rutherford County Mayor Ernest Burgess, and State Senators Bill Ketron and Jim Tracy.... read the rest of the story by Subscribing now.
