SEVIERVILLE – A Sevierville man faces an attempted murder after a shootout Sunday that left one man injured.
Warren Mastaw, 53, was arrested Sunday already faced charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a vehicle, aggravated assault with a weapon and DUI, according to a release from the Sevier County Sheriff's Department. The charges against Mastaw are pending as the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
The Sevierville Police Department received a call reporting a shooting at Uncle Buck's Rustic Treasures at 4:34 p.m. Sunday on Highway 66, according to the release. Upon their arrival, officers found Sevierville resident William Buchanan, 47, at the scene. Buchanan, who owns the business, had been shot twice in the leg and was airlifted to UT hospital where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries.
The immediate investigation led officers to suspect Mastaw. When Mastaw was located by one of the Sheriff's deputies, he allegedly pointed a handgun at the officer and drove off. After a short chase, Mastaw was intercepted by a road block constructed near his home.
