An area doctor will enter his plea to Sevier County Circuit Court Aug. 4 regarding charges of rape and sexual assault filed by patients, Judge Richard Vance decided earlier this week.

Dr. Rodney Gerald Carter's medical license was suspended earlier this month after he was charged on three counts of rape and three counts of aggravated sexual battery. The August hearing will be the first opportunity for Carter and his attorney Bryan Delius to enter a defense against the charges.
