Both employers and those looking for jobs will benefit from "How to Learn New Skills," a workshop planned for 10 a.m. to noon on March 31. The workshop will be at the Tennessee Career Center in Morristown, located in the Clifford H. "Bo" Henry Center for Business and Technology.

The workshop is free but reservations are requested. To make reservations, contact O'Vercum at 423-318-2341 or Connie.OVercum@ws.edu. The TDD line for the hearing impaired is 800-849-0299.

"This workshop will give them information about the sources of new skills. We won't be teaching job searching techniques, but we'll provide information on where to receive training and where to look for the money to pay for training," said Connie O'Vercum, interim director of Walters State's Center for Workforce Development.

"A large majority of people who are unemployed will have to be retrained. The jobs they had are no longer in demand. Many people will have to look at different avenues," O'Vercum said.
