The Nashville Suzuki Players performed at Seymour Intermediate School Wednesday as part of their free concert series.
The Nashville Suzuki Players are an acclaimed group of children, ranging in age from 8-12, who play violin under the direction of renowned composer, musician, and teacher, Thornton Cline.
The SIS children were enthusiastic about the concert, cheering loudly as the group emerged and applauding every song. However, the biggest applause came when the Suzuki Players – knowing their audience – broke into a familiar tune. As the musicians belted out "Rocky Top," every face in the crowd lit up and hands started clapping all over the gym. The violinists followed "Rocky Top" with another crowd favorite, "The Tennessee Waltz."
The group is based out of Hendersonville, Tenn. and is performing a number of concerts in the Knoxville area as well as in other areas of East Tennessee and Western North Carolina.
